5 Things You Can Do

5 Things You Can Do

1. Use the Power of the Purse
Today’s electric power system is expensive and hurts our global competitiveness. Technology exists right now to save you money, improve the quality and reliability of your electric service and put you in charge of your energy destiny.

2. Demand Control
Chances are, if you knew what time of day power was the most expensive and could pay for power only when you use it, you’d use a lot less expensive “peak time” energy. Now, federal law says you must be given that option. Contact your local utility and tell them you want time-of-use pricing and smart metering.

3. Call for Policy Change
The closed, regulated monopoly structure of electric utilities no longer works well for electricity consumers. Let the elected officials who work for you in Washington and your state capital know that you want things to change.

4. Use Less
There are a number of ways to save electricity and money  in homes, businesses and public facilities. Most aren’t as easy as simply turning down the heat, but the U.S. government and many organizations offer plenty of help.

5. Tell Us Your Business Story
Has your business jumped off the grid and into the 21st century? Or have you recently learned the hard way about the questionable reliability of the current system you depend on? We want to know.
