The Initiative is leading a groundbreaking campaign to transform outdated electricity regulations and policies so that they maximize consumer benefits, encourage innovation, and promote the full utilization of smart grid advances such as renewable energy, plug-in vehicles, and more. To accomplish this goal, the campaign collaborates with citizens, mayors, Federal and state regulators and policymakers, the business community, utilities, and technology companies on policy changes that are based on a set of Electricity Consumer Principles and a Policy Framework, and thus accelerate the migration toward a consumer-driven electric power system. The campaign also promotes the development of Perfect Power smart microgrids, which show that when smart policy and smart technology intersect, consumers and businesses are served with reliable, high-quality, clean power and lower costs over time.
