Introduction to Issue Briefs
With a national focus on building a more efficient, green electricity system that can generate jobs, smart grids are the talk of federal plans to fix the economy and address climate change. But discussions about the best strategies for building smart grids and the best approach to modernizing the U.S. electricity system can be misleading.
The Galvin Electricity Initiative is publishing a series of issue briefs to dissect the complicated debate around energy technology taking place on Capitol Hill, and among state regulators and consumer electricity service providers. Each brief will focus on one element of smart grid technology, addressing the benefits of each as well as the challenges and business case for implementation. Also, each brief will examine the policy opportunities to bring these technologies to scale.
