PPI is currently looking for participants to help develop Version 1 of the Perfect Power Seal of Approval
Launched in beta form in spring 2011, the Perfect Power Seal of Approval program has received strong support from industry stakeholders as a much-needed system for evaluating grid performance and design. Now, in partnership with Underwriters Laboratories, the Perfect Power Institute is working on Version 1 of this system and is looking for industry experts to participate in the Standards Technical Panel (STP) that will help shape it based on a proven standards-development process.
The Seal of Approval program (which will likely be rebranded as part of this process) will continue to assess grid systems in the following consumer-focused categories:
Efficiency and Environment
The program initially will focus on microgrids, where there is a clear system boundary and distribution assets are privately held. This includes university campuses, mixed-use developments, military bases, and municipalities. Version 1 metrics will be designed to be flexible so they can be applied to other types of systems in the future and is anticipated to launch at the end of 2012.
If you are interested in participating in the STP process, please contact John Kelly at email@example.com or Chris Banakis at firstname.lastname@example.org; for more information about the Seal of Approval, visit the Perfect Power Institute.
